While there aren’t much details about Sublime reuniting with a replacement for the late singer and guitarist Bradley Nowell, Floyd “Bud” Gaugh, one of the surviving members of the classic ska punk group, mentioned that he had some people in mind, but he didn’t want to start “revealing anyone’s names.” So we’ll name ‘em for him. In the meantime, here’s who we’re lobbying for:

* RAS-1: The former Long Beach Dub Allstars guitarist and vocalist actually fits perfect for the reunion.

* Ian McKaye: All the haters who thought Sublime weren’t hardcore enough with the late Nowell would roll out the red carpet for the former voice of the seminal groups Minor Threat and Fugazi.

* Dexter Holland: Because not only does he enjoy his success with The Offspring, but having Bob Rock (of Metallica fame) produce his band’s new album and writing a song for the Japanese duo Puffy AmiYumi don’t seem like the best career options for the legendary frontman right now.

* Jim Lindberg: For obvious reasons. If that were to happen, they should give Fletcher Dragge a call too. Pennywise recorded a cover version of “Same in the End” for the Sublime tribute album “Look at All the Love We Found”.

* Billie Joe Armstrong: The rumor involving this legendary vocalist and guitarist is close to being open, but seems very unlikely because of him being busy with Green Day, who have been quietly working on a new record and will do a tour next year

Who do you think should sing for Sublime?

Propagandhi have finished recording the follow-up to 2005’s “Potemkin City Limits”, and they seem pretty excited about it.

“For the first time in the last 10 years we have completed a record on schedule!! It is a killer record!! Everything went really well. We\’re really excited for everyone to hear it. We will begin touring all over the place in February 2009!! Prepare yourself!!!!!!!!”

Propagandhi recorded the album at their Illegal Combatant Recordings studio in their hometown of Winnipeg and Blasting Room Studios in Fort Collins, Colorado. Blasting Room was built in 1994 by members of Descendents, ALL and Black Flag.

The politically-charged punk band haven’t revealed an album title, track list or release date, but it’s expected to come out through G7 Welcoming Committee and Fat Wreck Chords early next year.

Propagandhi’s “How To Clean Everything” debut came out in 1993. They’ve released four albums since then.

The Offspring have revealed the details for “You’re Gonna Go Far Kid”, the second single off their latest album “Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace”.

The release will be available as a maxi-CD in two versions, with different track listings, according to a webshop. The first version will feature a live version of “You’re Gonna Go Far Kid”, while the other version will contain live versions of “Hammerhead” and “You’re Gonna Go Far Kid” as well as an edited version of the song.

“You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid” has been successful on US rock radio stations, reaching the top of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. This is the third song by The Offspring to hit #1 on that chart (the first being their signature song “Come Out and Play”, followed by “Hit That”).

The Offspring have been touring randomly in support of their new album. Rumors persist that the band will be on the road in the U.S. next year.

Although Sublime officially ceased to exist following the death of singer Bradley Nowell in May of 1996, the surviving members Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums) have recently jammed with an unknown-named singer and guitarist, who happens to be a huge fan of Sublime.

While there\’s not yet any talk of a new album and tour, sources say that Sublime (with a new singer) will perform together for the first time in 13 years in May 2009 at The Bamboozle in East Rutherford, New Jersey, along wth NOFX and Gorilla Biscuits. It is unknown at this time whether those rumors are true or false.

Sublime\’s last album, which is self-titled, was released only two months after Nowell\’s tragic and unexpected death. The album was a huge commercial success, spawning a number of popular singles “What I Got”, “Santeria”, “Wrong Way” , “Doin\’ Time”, “April 29, 1992 (Miami)” and “Caress Me Down”, and went 5x platinum in the US, despite lack of support through touring.

The last studio album from the Circle Jerks, “Oddities, Abnormalities, and Curiosities”, came out in 1995. Despite recording one new song last year, guitarist Greg Hetson mentioned early this year that the Circle Jerks may never release a new full-length in the near future. Hetson is planning to return to the studio next year with his bandmates in Bad Religion to record their next album for a summer/fall 2009 release.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, or not know what to do with ‘em, but the International Superheroes of Hardcore aren’t going away. In fact, they’re doing just the opposite. On November 25th, ISHC and Bridge Nine Records will be releasing the 4-song HPHC EP on a limited edition 7″ vinyl EP. To celebrate it’s release, a new song off the EP titled, ” Keepin’ It Real” has been posted on the ISHC MySpace page.

Starting Tuesday November 11th, the vinyl preorder will be available exclusively through Bridge Nine’s webstore, and comes complete with a full digital download of all four songs. The EP will be made available in stores shortly thereafter. For those who like legal digital downloads, the songs will also be available on Itunes internationally,as well as Amazon just in time for holiday shopping.

Featuring four songs, Captain SXE Chad Gilbert said himself,

These four songs originally didn’t make the cut for the US version of Takin’ It Ova because they didn’t fit the concept of the original album. But now we’re really excited that these four songs get to see the light of day. They were available on the Japanese edition and they’re very important songs to us and we’re very excited the world gets to hear what we have to say.

Following the success of their stint on the US Easycore Tour with New Found Glory, Crime In Stereo, and A Day To Remember, SXE Gilbert indicated that there are possibilities for more new ISHC material in the future.

These songs take time to write and perfect… it’s not like we can just crank out 15 songs and call it an album- so it’ll happen when the time is right for all of us.

Featuring artwork collaborated by talented illustrator Dwitt (who handled the original artwork for NFG & ISHC’s B9 releases) and Bill Hauser, (who handled the coloring of Dwitt’s illustrations), that artwork alone is going to be worth the price of the vinyl- trust us.

Into this breach step Goldblade whose ‘City Of Christmas Ghosts’ is a new festive classic- a melancholic yet euphoric take on the Christmas song. While they were at it we also decided to get the wonderful Poly Styrene on the track to duet the vocals with Goldblade frontman brother John Robb, it’s the first time she has sung on a punk rock song since her days in X Ray Spex and the result is quite magical. Poly and John are very good friends with Goldblade supporting X Ray Spex at the recent triumphant sold out Roundhouse gig.

Poly and John star in a duet between a couple walking through the empty deserted streets on Christmas day reminiscing about lost friends in the melancholic mid winter night, looking for the true spirit of Christmas distracted by the seasonal neons before finding something erotic in the antiseptic festivities.

The single is a re-recording of a track off the recent Goldblade ‘Mutiny’ album and has been re-titled ‘City Of Christmas Ghosts’. It’s a Christmas song that’s got a melancholic and dark heart, a duet raising a toast to lost friends and celebrating the true spirit of Christmas in a tale of lost love and nostalgia for lost love and friends. The outro of the song is quite special with Poly’’s Hare Krishna chants mixing in with the anthemic chorus giving the song a euphoric spiritual edge.

The song is huge, warm, affecting and celebratory with the production turning it into a Spector punk anthem, advance orders already point to at least a top 40 hit making the song the one to rally round for the festive season.
