Five Iron Frenzy:
The release date of the FIF DVD has seen some delays but is now due on April 13th with pre-orders currently shipping.
Some exclusive clips from the documentary are available on the trailer.
Vocalist Reese Roper for FIV has been heavily involved in the documentary “The Rise And Fall Of Five Iron Frenzy” and interviewed former members of the band.
“Riding the fence between a secular fad and a Christian phenomenon, Five Iron Frenzy never quite belonged in either place.
Finally, 15 years after their formation, comes “The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy”. This special two-disc set takes you behind the stage to hear the untold stories. Alongside the feature length documentary is a load of special features such as music videos (including one never before released), short films made by the band, a commentary track, live footage (including last tour and last show), and much more. We hope you hate it.”
Chris McCaughan, will have his second Sundowner record available in the Summer through Asian Man Records. Chris is due on tour with the Lawrence Arms next week and Distorted will have a review of their Kingston show as well as an interview with the band.
Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio fame is also due to finally release his solo record “Demos” this summer which will include 15 new tracks recorded as demos throughout 2009.
Vic Ruggiero/Phil Nerges will release their split album & book “Don’t feed the cats in Iraq”-on April 13th.
The book and cd are based on Phil Nerges’s experiences as a civilian working in Iraq during the height of the war. Phil came back from Iraq very inspired and slightly shell shocked, with a book full of poems, stories and things he knew were songs…Phil asked Vic Ruggiero if he could put the words into songs resultin in “Don’t Feed The Cats In Iraq”. Eight songs and another seven tracks of readings done by Phil Nerges. “Not overtly political as much as it documents the lives and perspective of these people who are not the soldiers, but regular working folks in the middle of utter chaos.”
The music is basically Americana (that’s the vibe Vic got from a lot of the stories) but it’s a wide range from Johnny cash, creepy texas swing, hippie dylan-ish, and even a bit of post punk reggae.
Vic will be on tour with the Slackers in the UK and Europe in May, look out for a review and possible interview here at Distorted!
Kevin Seconds will release his solo record “Good Luck Buttons” on May 11th.
Front man of 7 Seconds Kevin Seconds will be releasing his second record on Asian Man. “Definitely has that folksy vibe in the style of punk gone acoustic artists like Chuck Ragan.”
7 SECONDS will be on tour in the UK in August:
8th UK BLACKPOOL WINTER GARDENS @ Rebellion
9th UK EXETER CAVERN
10th UK NEWCASTLE TRILLIANS
11th UK BRIDGEND HOBOS
12th UK LONDON UNDERWORLD
