Death of a legend – Ron Asheton

Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton was found dead at his Ann Arbor home on Jan 6th of a suspected heart attack. Founding member Ashton will be remembered for his distinctive distorted guitar sound which led to him being named the 29th greatest guitarist in the world by Rolling Stone Magazine. After the band’s original split, Ashton carved a career playing for bands such as the New Order, New Race, Destroy All Monsters and Dark Carnival before rejoining the Stooges in 2003 and releasing ‘The Weirdness’ in 2007
