Sublime auditioning new singer?
While there aren’t much details about Sublime reuniting with a replacement for the late singer and guitarist Bradley Nowell, Floyd “Bud” Gaugh, one of the surviving members of the classic ska punk group, mentioned that he had some people in mind, but he didn’t want to start “revealing anyone’s names.” So we’ll name ‘em for him. In the meantime, here’s who we’re lobbying for:
* RAS-1: The former Long Beach Dub Allstars guitarist and vocalist actually fits perfect for the reunion.
* Ian McKaye: All the haters who thought Sublime weren’t hardcore enough with the late Nowell would roll out the red carpet for the former voice of the seminal groups Minor Threat and Fugazi.
* Dexter Holland: Because not only does he enjoy his success with The Offspring, but having Bob Rock (of Metallica fame) produce his band’s new album and writing a song for the Japanese duo Puffy AmiYumi don’t seem like the best career options for the legendary frontman right now.
* Jim Lindberg: For obvious reasons. If that were to happen, they should give Fletcher Dragge a call too. Pennywise recorded a cover version of “Same in the End” for the Sublime tribute album “Look at All the Love We Found”.
* Billie Joe Armstrong: The rumor involving this legendary vocalist and guitarist is close to being open, but seems very unlikely because of him being busy with Green Day, who have been quietly working on a new record and will do a tour next year
Who do you think should sing for Sublime?

As much as I would love to see bud and eric jamming again, and hear sublime songs played live by the guys that wrote em, I don’t want the name or the memory of sublime tarnished. For god sakes, sublime WAS one of the greatest bands of all time! Let’s not fuck it up with some singer from green day or pennywise and a Lil desire for nostalgia!!!
I say if bud and eric wannna reunite with a new singer, I actually think that’s awesome… Just don’t call yourself Sublime. Sublime always was and will always be Bradley’s band

I agree, James. Sublime was always Bradley and Bradley was always Sublime. There’s no reason why Eric and Bud should resurrect the band without him, that’s crazy and this could ruin the legacy of Sublime.

I agree with James that if Bud and Eric want to reunite with a new singer then they shouldn’t call themselves Sublime. I remember reading somewhere that Brad told his fellow band members that if something were to happen to him then they should end Sublime as a band and not use the name again and they (Bud and Eric) agreed 100%. I think when they made this agreement Brad had already overdosed at least once and the thought obviously crossed his mind. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I heard that Brad overdosed 2 or 3 times before his last fatal overdose, R.I.P. Brad. I think I read about the agreement they made on Bud’s website but feel free to correct me on that too if I’m wrong.
If Bud and Eric are coming together again and starting a band then I think it would be overly excellent (but unlikely for various reasons) if HR from the legendary Bad Brains took the vox position. I can’t think of anybody else at the moment but when I do I’ll check back.

I don’t mind if Bud and Eric are doing this under the name Sublime. They are paying respect for Brad, and bringing their music to more people. As long as they don’t hit the studio under the name Sublime, I’m happy. Sublime’s music was the work of Bradley, and no one can imitate it by recording new material; unless it was Brad who wrote it.
