The 241ers to release ‘Murderers’ in September
THE 241ers is a new band with members of Stockyard Stoics, Filaments, Suicide Bid, MDC. Written after the collapse of the Stoics and Jon Fawkes moving to America, drummerless they started jamming the songs in their living rooms. There are also guest appearances from members of The Hold Steady, World/Inferno Friendship Society and Morning Glory. Jon Fawkes (Filaments/Suicide Bid) describes the music of THE 241ers as,
“acoustic, political punk rock, in the vein of (I hope) Billy Bragg, The Clash, Against Me, Stiff Little Fingers….. just quieter!”
Jon went on to say the album’s 10 tracks covered subjects including,
“the soul destroying hardships of working in New York hipster bars to police murder and organisation against the BNP, plus a theatrical dialogue between (former US president) Ronald Reagan and the devil during his descent into hell!”
Jon also suggested that the new record would be “Music your mum and dad might like.”
You can listen to three tracks from the album here.
