The Gears & The D.I.s discography reissue by Hep Cat Records

HEP CAT Records is giving the whole discography from The Gears & The D.I.s full reissue treatment this September. The Gears’ classic and one of the best L.A. punk albums, Rockin’ At Ground Zero, is back with much more! Re-mastered, unreleased bonus tracks, etc on vinyl & two CD versions. Along with this series of unearthed material will be the reissue of Axxel G. Reese’s (Vocalist of the GEARS) band The D.I.s. The band’s ever revolving door also featured members of TSOL, the ROCKATS, the JONESES, LEVI DEXTER & the RIPCHORDS, the RED DEVILS, the KNITTERS and RAY CAMPI’S ROCKABILLY REBELS. Their five song 12” EP “Lock & Load” that was produced by Billy Zoom (X) is back, but as a 22 track studio recording collection. The following will be available September 8, 2009:

The Gears – Rockin’ At Ground Zero CD
Classic, L.A. punk album is back, with much more! Included here is the complete 1980 “Rockin’ At Ground Zero” LP with the first single and with five 1979 demo recordings added, that have never been released. “Girl Crazy”, highlight these newly found tunes. Twenty three tunes in total that have been re-mastered and it comes with a fold out poster.

imited Edition of 500, colored vinyl, hand silk screened jackets (just like the first batch of the original 1980 Playgems LP). LP packaged with four, 1979 demo recordings added to it that have never been released. Nineteen tunes in total that have been re-mastered!

This deluxe version includes the classic, complete, 1980 L.A. punk LP “Rockin’ At Ground Zero” with the first single and with five 1979 demo recordings added, that have never been released. Also includes a separate D.I.s “Rare Cuts!” bonus CD ! Out of the ashes of The Gears in 1982, Axxel G. Reese and Dave Drive started The D.I.s (Drill Instructor’s). Members included, Ron Emory (TSOL) & Jonny Ray Bartel (The Red Devils & The Knitters) 9 tracks produced by Billy Zoom (X & The Knitters). 45 re-mastered tunes in total and it comes with two fold out posters! This is a must have collection for any fan of L.A. Punk, Roots or Rock n’ Roll.

Out of the ashes of The Gears (legendary L.A. punk band) in 1982, Axxel G. Reese and Dave Drive started a new band called The D.I.s (Drill Instructors). Members included Jimmy Reed (Levi Dexter and the Ripchords), Matt Lee (Ray Campi’s Rockabilly Rebels),  Mike “Shakey Wilcox (The Rockats),  Thadius T. Baker, Patrick ‘Frenchie” French (The Joneses), “Venice George” Chavlez, Ron Emory (TSOL) & Jonny Ray Bartel (The Red Devils & The Knitters) 22 re-mastered tunes in total, 9 produced by Billy Zoom (X & The Knitters). Includes a fold out poster and detailed liner notes by Jonny Whiteside
