Come Out Fighting

Come Out Fighting
Neck, competing with hordes of bands in the wake of the Celtic- Punk-Folk popular rise of recent years thanks to prominent bands like the Dropkick Murphy’s and Flogging Molly and of course The Pogues of the yesteryear, have deservedly avoided the branding so many copycats have endured thanks in the main to Leeson O’Keeffe (Ex Popes).
The band rushes out of the gates on this album with title track ‘Come Out Fighting’ before placing firmly on their folk drenched gloves for anti-racist song ‘Everybody’s Welcome to the Hooley’. Where so many bands have straddled lines between punk Trad folk (with an Irish token instrument), there is a genuine Celtic core to Neck, and they swiftly and effortlessly have you singing, dancing, smiling, and drinking to this record.
After a fairly lengthy wait since their last record-more than three years- Neck have nestled comfortably in both punk and folk camps (a tad more of the latter) with this record, whilst not shying away from a joyous jig or ballsy ballad. This 14 track celebration that transports you from a lazy & cosy fireplace to raucous fifth gear mayhem with Keeffe’s voice transforming from sweet harmony to rough edged on the way.
Neck stand on their own two feet, both arms swinging and deliver anything as powerful as their peers; Irish Trad folk teasing with the left (‘I Turn my Face To The Four Winds’) whilst a punk rock uppercut delivers the sweet final blow.
